The 54-holes PGA Golf Club announced its Wanamaker and Dye Courses ranked in the top-25 in Florida in Golfweek's Best: "State-by-State Courses You Can Play." The Wanamaker Course ranked 20th in the publication's annual rankings of public courses in the Sunshine State, while the Dye Course ascended four spots from last year's rankings to No. 23.

The King & Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine, Fla., part of the World Golf Village Resort, has completed a full bunker renovation led by Nicklaus Design and is ready for the spring golf season.
The project was completed in February to meet all of the desired objectives. The 18-hole, par-72 championship resort course, which opened in 2000, is the only golf course design collaboration by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer, who passed on September 25, 2016, after a legendary career-and a friendship and rivalry with fellow competitor turned golf course designer Jack Nicklaus that is the subject of storybooks.

West Bay Golf Club in Estero, Florida has commissioned the Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design to renovate its 18-hole championship golf course. Located adjacent to Estero Bay on Florida's southwest coast, the property borders a magnificent nature preserve and wetlands. Originally designed by Pete and P.B. Dye in 1998 to enhance the dramatic natural environment, the renovation will further enrich the appeal of the course by adding more modern design elements and deliver exceptional playing conditions for the membership.
At this week's PGA TOUR stop in Mayakoba, Mexico, tour player, Russell Knox, has pledged what will hopefully be a significant amount based on his performance. Knox has pledged $250 for each birdie he makes during the OHL Classic, as well as $500 for each eagle and $1,000 for a hole in one. Knox was the runner up in Mayakoba last season, falling to Graeme McDowell in a playoff. Knox is the 19th ranked player in the world and 21st in the FedEx Cup rankings. His stroke average is a 69.74, which means he could make a lot of birdies. Averaging 4.75 birdies per round, Knox's birdie count could be a modest windfall to those who are helped by Jacksonville's Child Cancer Fund.
The pairings for the 2016 Franklin Templeton Shootout have been released. The PGA Tour-sanctioned event will be played Dec. 5-10 at the beautiful Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Florida.
The 12 two-person teams will play for a $3.1 million purse. The opening round will be a scramble format on Thursday, December 8th, followed by modified alternate shot on Friday, December 9th, and the final round with a better ball format on Saturday, December 10th. Golf Channel will televise Thursday and Friday live from 2 to 5 p.m. and FOX will broadcast Saturday’s final round live from 1 to 5 p.m.

PGA Golf Club's acclaimed Dye Course is set to re-open to the public Friday, Nov. 25 following a complete re-grassing project that will enhance year-round playability and overall appeal. Celebration Bermuda, a hybrid strain widely favored for its durability and quick recovery, was installed on all fairways. In addition to its impressive drought resistance and shade tolerance, the hearty grass presents a striking blue-green hue for great color contrasts.
All 18 greens have been re-grassed with Tifeagle, an Ultra'dwarf Bermuda variety lauded for its improved speed, consistent smoothness and superior color retention, while TifGrand was chosen for the collars. Additionally, putting surfaces have been expanded to their original sizes when the course opened in 2000, revealing pin placements players have not seen in years.
PGA Golf Club will host a "Red, White & You" charity golf tournament on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016. The event is open to all golfers. Opening ceremonies will commence at 8:30 am, followed by a 9:00 am shotgun start for the scramble.
Entry is $75 (plus tax) for PGA Golf Club members and active or retired military, and $100 (plus tax) for guests and the general public. Breakfast, lunch, golf and prizes, silent auction, 50/50 contest and raffle are included. All proceeds benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation and PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America.

Heritage Golf Group announced that TPC Prestancia in Sarasota, Florida raised over $60,000 at their annual golf tournament on Monday, November 9th, 2015. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.'s Birdies for the Brave, a national military outreach initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for military home front charities that provide critical services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded veterans, and their families.
TPC Prestancia's golf tournament benefiting Birdies for the Brave had a full field of over 200 golfers playing two golf courses: Club Course & Stadium Course. The tournament commenced with a patriotic Opening Ceremony featuring bagpipes and each foursome of golfers was joined by an active duty military member. Their participation brought real-world military heroism to life through the round of golf. Following tournament play, the post-round reception featured a speech by guest speakers, retired Major Steven McLeary, Executive Director for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Catherine (Cartwright) Tumbleson, Retired LPGA Professional & Original Founder of Operations Birdies which transpired into Birdies for the Brave, & Major Rob Kilmartin, US Army (Ret) & recipient of the Bronze Star as well as two Purple Heart Medals. Reception events included dinner for all participants and guests, a silent auction, raffles and an awards presentation.
PGA National Resort announces its famed Champion Course has been awarded the 2016 "Sustainable Golf Course of the Year Award" in the Americas region by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). This highly-valued award solidifies PGA National's exceptional commitment to the three pillars of sustainable golf: nature, resources and people. Streamsong Red and Streamsong Blue have been named to GOLF magazine's list of Top 100 Courses in the U.S., adding to the resort's growing list of accolades. In this year's list, Streamsong Red ranked 47 and Streamsong Blue ranked 56, up from their rankings of 52 and 62 respectively in the list's last edition.

The Wanamaker Course at PGA Golf Club was revitalized with a significant re-grassing project this off season, heightening the playing experience by introducing new turf to fairways and bunker surrounds, and planting several ornamental species to reframe holes.
Celebration, a hybrid Bermuda grass gaining great popularity in recent years, was installed on all 14 fairways. The strain is hearty enough to out compete common Bermuda grass, making it ideal for weed control. The texture and density helps it to recover quickly from divots, while showcasing a striking blue-green color.
Home of the PGA TOUR Honda Classic and former Ryder Cup venue, PGA National Resort announces its famed Champion Course has achieved the certified international mark of sustainability in golf from the Golf Environment Organization (GEO).
The recognition fell on Earth Day 2015 and acknowledges PGA National's environmental stewardship, resource efficiency and community value across the Champion Course and its facilities. Earlier this month PGA National became the first U.S. resort to achieve the "International Green Meeting Certification" from ASTM International.
